Ukhrul, Aug 14 : Anti-AFSPA crusader Robita Arambam, who has launched a fast to demand the revocation of the Army Act, reached Ukhrul today to seek the support of the people from across the State.
Meeting Ukhrul based media persons today at Tangkhul Leishak Long (TLL) office , Phungreitang Ukhrul, the anti AFSPA campaigner Robita said that she came to Ukhrul seeking the support of the people to strengthen her demand for repealing AFSPA from the State.
According to her, she reached Ukhrul today at around 10 am and met some rights activists and discussed her decision and her objective to fast under the demand to get the Act repealed. She also appealed to them to support her movement against the draconian Act. She added that it is her intention to spread her campaign to all the districts of Manipur.
Later, at around 3 pm two staff from Women Against Crime (WAC), Memcha and Anita, who came from Imphal also joined the press briefing at TLL office.
Memcha said that WAC supports her campaign but urged her (Robita) to reconsider the decision to fast and instead opt other means of democratic agitation because she is the mother of two minor children. Memcha also expressed gratitude for the concern shown by the people of Ukhrul and the utmost care extended to Robita. They left Ukhrul at around 5 pm for Imphal.
