IMPHAL, Aug 18 : A team of JCILPS Women Wing former convenor Lourembam Nganbi called on Chief Minister O Ibobi and urged the Government to release Khomdram Ratan at the earliest without any condition.
Apart from Nganbi, Social Reformation and Nupi Samaj general secretary Ramani, Nongpok Leingak Lup Imphal East president Memma and Thaba and Kamala of JAC Singjamei were also present during the meeting with the Chief Minister who was surrounded by many of his Cabinet Ministers.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Nganbi conveyed that they urged the Chief Minister to revoke the Cabinet decision which declared Khomdram Ratan as a wanted man, release him without any condition, let him work together with the masses and draft a new Bill which can fulfil the people’s collective aspirations.
After listening to the JCILPS Women Wing representatives, Ibobi, while informing that the Government has no authority to interfere in the works of any Court, urged the team to seek Ratan’s release on bail. Nonetheless, the Chief Minister assured that the Government would re-consider Ratan’s case.
Underscoring the Chief Minister’s assurance, Nganbi exuded that the Government would act in accordance with the pulse of the masses. If the State Government’s fails to respect the people’s sentiment, the issue would be taken to the level of the United Nations Organisation (UNO), if necessary, Nganbi said.
