front-2___womenfolkIMPHAL, Aug 19 : JCILPS continued with its relay hunger strike demanding implementation of ILPS and withdrawal of the wanted tag on former JCILPS convenor Khomdram Ratan today too.
Members of the JCILPS Women Wing joined the hunger strike at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall today.
Speaking to media persons at the sidelines of the protest, JCILPS Women Wing convenor Thokchom Apabi said the arrest of former convenor Ratan by the police will not deter the movement. The demand for ILPS still stands and with the support of the people it will continue, Apabi said.
She also condemned the arrest of Ratan by the police on August 17 during a peaceful protest at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai.
A petition filed by Ratan was heard at the High Court and the Court was keeping its judgement reserved, Apabi said adding that the Court had issued no orders to arrest Ratan. “The arrest of Ratan by the police on August 17 without any orders from the Court was nothing but violation of law by the State Government and its police force”, she added.
In the meantime, Wangkhei Angom Leikai meira paibis today staged a protest demonstration on the road decrying the arrest of Khomdram Ratan.
