Deputy loses cool, bares fangs at Noney.
Manipur chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh inaugurated the newly formed district of Noney (Longmai) today hours after rebels attacked police personnel deployed at Noney for today’s programme.
By deploying maximum number of security personnel in the surrounding areas as well as on the road side of Imphal-Noney road the inauguration function was held successfully without any trouble despite rebels warning that they will disrupt the programme.
During the inauguration chief guest of the function Ibobi Singh said that the creation of the new district will bring development by reducing the area of administration which will be convenient in reaching to all the corners of the district.
He added that the government had declared the new district not for a community but for the welfare and development for all the community living in that area.
Recalling yesterday’s late evening attack on police personal who were securing the inauguration ground, the president of the inauguration function deputy chief minister Gaikhangam said that it is an act of terrorism and cowardice to fire from hiding places on innocent civilians.
He challenged the attackers to come forward and fight like a real man.
He added that the rebels are jealous in seeing the development taking place in each corner of the state as after development they wouldn’t have any place for them to hide and survive taking illegal taxes and extortion from the common people.
He said that the government didn’t go for development based on area or population and it is a must to reach each and every corner of the state by district administration which is the channel for development so the government had taken up the process to split the big district into smaller district.
He added that by creating new districts the government is not destroying the village boundary, but they are just keeping the administration closer and nearby to all people for their convenience and development.
He also appreciated the security personnel present at yesterday’s incident, who didn’t return the fire though they got shot because of innocent public present in that area and also thanked all the security personnel working with the maximum energy to secure the inauguration function.
People of Noney district thanked and appreciated the chief minister, deputy chief and other ministers for creating Noney as a district. Cultural programmes were organised as a part of the programme to celebrate formation of Noney district.
Pherzawl district : Chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh today inaugurated Pherzawl district. The inaugural function was graced by Gaikhangam, deputy chief minister, revenue, forest and environment minister, I Hemochandran Singh, Chaltonlien Amo, MLA and chairman (HAC), Vungzagin Valte among others.
Inaugurating the district the chief minister said, “Pherzawl district is created not for a particular community. It is created for every community to root out the valley and hills imbalance. Manpower will be provided and infrastructure will be development for Pherzawl district soon.”
The deputy chief minister stressed that “district is the backbone of the development of government and the people. Whatever we do in the valley and hills are to be translated into action for development. Unity is the requirement of the state,” he said.
