BREAKING NEWS:
IMPHAL, Dec 16 : Noted music director, lyricist, film actor and singer, Guru Liangam passed away today at about 12.05 pm at his residence at Langthabal, Canchipur, Imphal following a personal ailment.
The noted personality was conferred the ‘Guru’ title by the North East Culture Zonal Centre, Dimapur, Ministry of Culture, in 2012 and the State Kala Akademi and Social Welfare Department accorded recognition to the title.
He was also an approved artiste of All India Radio, Imphal and president of Zeliangrong Artists Forum, Manipur.
Born on February 9, 1963 to late KL Samuel and K Dyani at Langthabal Chingthak, Canchipur, he is survived by his wife, three daughters and two sons.
Jiangam acted in the Zeliangrong film Son Khou Ruide, directed by Kachanghtai Gonmei and produced by Dangmeichung Dangmei in 2009. He also acted in a Manipuri film.
The funeral of the late artiste will be held at his residence tomorrow at 10 am.
The Zeliangrong Film Forum, Zeliangrong Artists Forum and Rongmei Students’ Organisations have mourned the demise of the noted personality.
