A team of Imphal West district police commandos reportedly arrested individuals working for NSCN(IM) along National Highway-37 Imphal Tamenglong road.
Official sources said the four individuals were arrested at around 1.30 pm by an ROP team along the NH-37 to ensure free movement of loaded trucks and tankers coming from Jiribam.
The police commandos team intercepted the arrested individuals travelling on an empty truck coming from Tamenglong bazaar and headed towards Khongsang Bazar.
The arrested individuals have been identified as one Yambem Rakesh Singh aliasJames alias Pitru 28yrs s/o (L) Y.Pishak of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai, Themreingam Kashung alias Agamboy 26yrs s/o Ngarinme Kashung of Ukhrul Green Land, Ramreishang Hongchui 22yrs s/o Luinam Hongchui of Kachai village Ukhrul and Lankhuanlung Kamei 18yrs s/o (L) Gaigunglung Kamei of Tamenglong ward no –III.
40 Gelatin explosive sticks, 58 Detonators, 26 metres of Cordtex, one Tata Truck- NL-01A-9772 and 18 Air gun ammunitions, were allegedly recovered from them.
Further the sources said that they disclosed that they have been working under one cadre of NSCN(IM) namely David and that the explosive materials were handed over by David through one non-Manipuri identified as Sanjoy, who owns a hardware cum grocery shop at Tamenglong Bazar.
The explosive materials were to be handed over to one NSCN(IM) cadre, named Mathew at Khongsang for using in attacking the security forces deployed on NH-37 for ROP duty of loaded trucks coming from Jiribam to Imphal.
The arrested persons and seized articles have been handed over to Patsoi Police Station.
