IMPHAL, Feb 22 : Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has asserted that only a BJP Government can bring development and progress in Manipur.

In order to bring better changes in Manipur, people should take the opportunity of the ensuing State Assembly election and elect sincere representatives, said Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
Speaking at the political convention of BJP candidate from Langthabal AC O Joy and a political rally held at Langdum High School ground within Keirao AC today, Sarbananda Sonowal said, “During almost 50 years of Congress rule in Assam, the State was plagued by corruption and people had to suffer the brunt. Assam was far behind other States of the country. After BJP came to power in Assam, significant developments have taken place at such a short period of time. As such, people of Manipur should allow BJP to form the next Government so as to usher in growth and development.”
Sonowal also said that ‘corrupt’ Congress will never be able to lead the people towards peace and sustainable development.
He also accused the State Government of misusing fund sanctioned by the Centre and stated that Ibobi-led State Government is responsible for the failure to resolve UNC’s economic blockade.
Sonowal asserted that Prime Minister Modi is keen to develop North East region.
“Acknowledging the contribution of Manipur in the field of sports, the Centre under Prime Minister Modi has resolved to establish a sports university in the State. Apart from that, various other developmental projects have been initiated in Manipur and other North East States. Let us move along the path of growth and development by voting for BJP in the ensuing election,” Sonowal said.
“I’m the Chief Minister of Assam and if there is blockade in my State, it is my responsibility to clear the blockade. However, the Congress Government led by O Ibobi has been blaming the Central Government for the blockade rather than discharging their duty”, Sonowal asserted.
He hailed BJP candidate in Keirao AC Lourembam Rameshore as a young political activist who would work for people’s welfare with dedication.
Manipur is an immediate neighbour of Assam and the two States share an unbreakable bond. Moreover there is a need to forge unity among all the North Eastern States, and BJP would work relentlessly towards this end, Sonowal stated.
He further exuded confidence that the people of Manipur would oust the Congress Government and pave the way for a BJP Government.
BJP MLA Thongam Biswajit was also present at the political rally.
