bosemIMPHAL, Feb 5 : Observing that syllabus prescribed by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) has been underrated by bringing in textbooks published outside the State, All Manipur Recognised Private Schools’ Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) has asked all the recognised private schools to stick to the textbooks prescribed by BOSEM only.

Talking to newspersons at Manipur Press Club today afternoon, AMRPSWA secretary Laishram Joy said that the association has been urging recognised private schools and schools affiliated to BOSEM to use textbooks prescribed by the Board. He reiterated that the association had submitted a written statement to the authority concerned in this regard but no substantial step has been taken up till date.

Textbooks prescribed by BOSEM were written in context of Manipur. Textbooks procured from outside the State could misguide the students, he asserted. Urging the authority concerned to look into the private schools set up without the consent of the Government, Joy said that mushrooming of unauthentic private schools has tarnished the image of those schools which are strictly following the laid-out criteria.

He contended that many private schools are running by buying recognition from schools in other districts. He also urged BOSEM and the Government to ensure that private schools fulfil the laid-out criteria before giving recognition to them. Rapid mushrooming of unauthentic private schools in many areas poses a serious threat to education system in the State, he remarked.
