Repairing work of Imphal-Jiribam highway Complete by April end : CM to NHIDCL

IMPHAL, Mar 22: Chief Minister N Biren has instructed the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to complete repairing dilapidated portions of Imphal-Jiribam by the end of April before the onset of rainy season.

The Chief Minister held a meeting with officials concerned this afternoon and reviewed the work progress of Imphal-Jiribam highway.

Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Commissioner (Works) and officials of NHIDCL and BRO attended the meeting.

The Chief Minister instructed NHIDCL officials to work round the clock and ensure that dilapidated sections of Imphal-Jiribam highway are fully repaired by the end of April.
He also assured all necessary assistance from the side of the State Government.
Biren further asked NHIDCL to send photographs of the highway repairing work everyday through WhatsApp.

The NHIDCL officials, while acknowledging that Imphal-Jiribam highway is a priority area of the State Government, said that contractors have been roped in to start the highway repairing work while some have already started working.

They also assured that the repairing work would be completed to a passable stage by the end of April. They further informed that construction of Makru bridge in the form of an RCC bridge has been already started.

The discussed about shifting the CRPF camp located near Barak bridge in order to start construction of the same bridge in RCC form. The meeting also discussed construction of Tamenglong-Khongsang road and some other roads, informed a source.

National highway is main routes is known to us from early but till now I think govt of Manipur didn’t know. previous govt didn’t maintain the highway for the last 10 yrs in other state highway are maintain and constructed with proper structure but in Manipur all the road contractor think for themselves all this should be abolish govt should inspection all this and those who are found corrupted must be punished. We need action not words.
