School going sisters among 4 killed in separate road mishaps

Bpr/Tbl/Tml, Mar 30: At least four people including two little girls were killed and six were wounded in three separate road accidents that occurred within 24 hours.

Two school-going girls lost their lives when they were hit by a speeding bus at Irengbam traffic point, Oinam Bazar in Bishnupur district today at around 11.30 am.

Both were sisters and were studying at Oinam Public School. They have been identified as Mutum Sanahan Devi (6) and her younger sister Sanamacha Devi (4) d/o Sanou Singh and Thoibi Devi of Oinam Bazar Makha Leikai.

They were returning home from the school when they were hit by a bus bearing registration MN01-1269 plying from Moirang to Imphal.

While the bus driver have surrendered to Bishnupur police, a case has been registered in the police station in connection with the incident.

A young woman was killed while her grandmother suffered grievous injuries when a Tata truck loaded with sand toppled over them at Khangabok, Thoubal district yesterday at around 8.40 pm.

The deceased has been identified as Thokchom Ophilia Devi @ Abemcha (14) d/o Tiken of Khangabok Part I Sanilou Leikai while the injured grandmother of the deceased has been identified as Ningthoujam Gambhini Devi w/o (L) Thoiba.

Gambhini sustained severe injuries on her head in the accident.
Abemcha died on the spot while her grandmother was rushed to Thoubal district hospital for treatment. Later she was referred to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) and again to RIMS Hospital after her condition deteriorated.

Abemcha and her grandmother were returning home after shopping at Khangabok Bazar when a speeding Tata truck bearing registration number MN03-0784 ran into a shop after the driver lost control and the vehicle toppled onto them killing the young woman on the spot.

It may be mentioned that father of the deceased’s Tiken lost his vision in a bomb blast that took place at Lilong bridge on August 14, 2003.
A man was killed and four persons were injured when a Tata truck in which they were travelling met an accident at Tamenglong Khunjao today noon.

The deceased has been identified as Champing (43) while the four injured persons have been identified as Akungliu (56), Khengsiliu (29), Giangreiliu (50), Masenthuiliu (7) and Agiangliu.
They were admitted to Tamenglong district hospital.

Of the four injured, condition of two is said to be critical.
The ill-fated truck carrying 17 people was heading towards Namtiram village from Tamenglong bazar.
