IMPHAL, Apr 2: The 2nd Round Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) programme was inaugurated today at the conference hall of Family Welfare Services, Imphal by Family Welfare Services and State Health Society, Manipur.
Health and Family Welfare Service’s Minister L Jayantakumar, Parliamentary Secretary Soibam Subhas and Commissioner PK Singh took part in the event as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Oral Polio vaccination was administered to children under five years as a part of the event.
The programme was later followed by a media sensitisation workshop in connection with the 2nd Round IPPI and 3rd Round of IV phase of Mission Indradhanush.
Speaking at the event, Nodal Officer Immunisation, Th Nandakishor said that the 3rd round of IV phase of Mission Indradhanush would start from April 7 for seven days in Tamenglong, Churachandpur, Ukhrul and Chandel district.
“The phase is supposed to complete before the rainy season starts and aims to cover 2593 children and 1267 pregnant women”, he added.
He said that Mission Indradhanush was launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on December 25, 2014 with the aim of immunising all children from diptheria, pertussis, tetanus, childhood tubercolosis, polio, hepatitis B and measles.
