CM for support of all to weed out corruption

IMPHAL, Apr 19: Chief Minister N Biren has said that the people play a huge role in eliminating corruption from the State and the Government alone cannot root out the evil.

Speaking at Yenningthagee Eshei programme of All India Radio, Manipur, held at Chandrakirti auditorium, Palace Compound, the Chief Minister claimed that there be a corruption free Manipur only when the people stop paying bribes during recruitment and stop taking money during the time of election.

He urged the people to accept their responsibility as a citizen in the fight against corruption.
Biren conveyed that Narendra Modi’s Government is one whose words and actions go hand in hand adding that steps would be taken up to bring development in various areas of the State.

He also expressed desire to establish a 100 bedded cancer hospital in the State under NLCPR, so as to ease the various inconveniences faced by patients while travelling to other places for treatment.

If corruption is weeded out, the number of talented sportspersons would rise, he further said.
Remarking on the present condition of AIR Imphal, he assured that he would urge the Prime Minister and the authority concerned to improve the condition of the establishment which contributes immensely in spreading news to remote parts of the State which even newspapers and TVs cannot reach.

Speaking at the event, Works Minister Th Biswajit said that proper communication is critical in breaking the barriers between the people and the Government and also in eliminating tension between different communities of the State.

National School of Drama chairman Ratan Thiyam pointed out that all round development can be brought to the State by improving the art and culture and the tourism prospects of the State.

One cannot simply ignore one’s culture and traditions in the name of development, he added.
Replying to a query after the event, Chief Minister N Biren said it is a good step that some Congress MLAs are joining BJP adding that the party warmly welcome the MLAs.
He also praised the move by the Central Government to end VIP culture.
