IMPHAL: Maintaining that all Congress MLAs should not lose heart over the inability of the party to form the government, Congress MLA of Sagolband AC RK Imo appealed to all his party colleagues to stick to the party and remain united.
Imo was speaking at a felicitation function organised in his honour at Usha Bhawan Club Community Hall, Sagolband Sayang on Wednesday.
He said, “Even though chief minister N Biren is my father-in-law, I still remain faithful to Congress. If someone was in my position, I am sure he/she would have shifted allegiance to BJP. However, we should remember that even if we don’t form the government, we could work together and shape the future of the state by playing the role of a responsible op-position.
For this, all Congress MLAs need to remain united and never succumb to temptations and selfish motives.”He asserted that after Congress ruled the state for 15 years consecutively, people still wanted Congress to form the government and that was clearly indicated by the victory of 28 Congress MLAs in the recently held assembly elections.
Therefore, it is the duty of Congress MLAs to serve the people as responsible opposition.
MLA RK Imo further informed the gathering that the work initiated by Ibobi led Congress government to convert Shri Shri Govindaji Temple to a tourist destination spot will be accomplished in this term with funding from the tourism ministry.
ITI Takyel retired teacher S Gaurabidhu, retired SDC RK Vinod Kumar Singh, retired assistant teacher S Rashi, social worker S Tombi Singh, Suba Hospital CEO Dr W Imo and retired EE/IFCD S Girani Singh also attended the function as presidium members.
