Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) today detected a primary teacher drawing salary without attending the school in a special drive in the government schools.
Speaking to the media during a press meet held at head office of DESAM, Sagolband Moirang Leirak president of DESAM, Moirangthem Angamba said during an inspection on Wabagai Tera Urak High school, Naorem Rajmani Devi from Langol type two was caught not attending the school since August 4, 2015.
After further investigation DESAM found Rajmani was appointed as primary school teacher and posted at Kakching primary school on 2013. Later her posting was utilised at Wabagai Tera Urak High school on August 4, 2015. Angamba further said she came to the school to submit the joining report for a day and since then she did not attend the school.
DESAM condemned Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Kakching and relevant authority for not taking action against Naorem Rajmani Devi for a period of five years. Such things are happening because of the lack of inspection by ZEO Kakching and concerned authority, Angamba charged.
Education department and State government should take necessary action against such teachers and DDO Bishwanath along with the ZEO officials, he added.
However, DESAM claimed such activities are happening due to the lack of rationalisation and transfer policy by the government. The new BJP government should look over the district inspectors and assistant inspector of their corresponding areas and the government should take care of the transfer policy, he added.
A monitoring committee of state government for irregular teachers and special training programmes should be arranged for changing teaching learning process at the earliest.
