Educational opportunities in Japan highlighted

IMPHAL, May 9 : Hiroshi Yoshino, Director, University of Tokyo, India Office, New Delhi has today stated that India is one of the important partners of Japan.

He was speaking at a lecture programme on “Strengthening India-Japan Collaboration- An opportunity for higher education and research in Japan” organised by Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal.

He said that no country has developed without application of science and technology and Japan is the best example.

“Japan suffered the most in the WWII. Nevertheless, Japan was able to rebuild its Nation with the help of science and technology. Older people in Japan now seek the help of robots for completing their daily chores,” he said.

Showcasing the various academic and research programs in Japan, he also appreciated the initiative of IBSD in promoting the Cherry Blossom Festival in India and proposed a Japanese education fair in the North East India this November.

He said, “Around 1 lakh students from China and one thousand students from India are pursuing higher studies in University of Tokyo and other universities in Japan.”

“I was invited by Dinabandhu Sahoo, Director, IBSD, Imphal to come and attend the lecture programme so that students can be enlightened on various educational opportunities available in Japan,” he added.
