Imphal, May 9 :Stating that the meeting with Chief Minister N. Biren Singh was just a courtesy call, Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu said that different ethnic communities should learn to live together and should strive to strengthen the bond of living together peacefully as good neighbours in the region.
Some leaders of the past created bad blood between different people for their own selfish political exigencies, said the Nagaland Chief Minister and apologised for the misdeeds of the past leaders and expressed hope that the days of distrust and animosity are now over.
Just like in Nagaland, here in Manipur too, the BJP and the NPF are partners, he said that expressed his belief that the four NPF MLAs will continue to support the BJP led Government till the last moment.
The coming of the new BJP led Government in Manipur has infused a ray of hope in the people, he observed and added that the Meiteis should play the role of the big brother to create peace and friendship among the different ethnic communities.
He further said, “We must realize that it is our due responsibility to uphold peace and usher in development in the States of Manipur and Nagaland”.
On the responsibility of media, he stressed on the role of the to project a positive image of the people and the Government to the outside world and appealed to the people to live together as good neighbours as existed since time immemorial between our forefathers.
Prior to the press conference, Chief Minister N Biren Singh warmly welcomed Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu at his office chamber.
On the occasion, N Biren Singh presented paintings to Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu. Later the Nagaland Chief Minister gifted a traditional Gong to N Biren.
The Chief Minister of Nagaland was accompanied by former CM Nagaland who is also Advisor Finance and Chairman DAN, TR Zeliang, Minister for School Education, Yitachu, Commissioner and Secretary to CM, I Himato Zhimoni, vice president, NPF Zaku i/c Manipur State, personal secretary to CM, Diethoselhou Sachu and press secretary to CM Sebastian.
Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu who visited Manipur for a few hours to meet Chief Minister in a private helicopter landed at Kangla Helipad. The Nagaland Chief Minister and his associates were received by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Education Minister Th Radheshyam, PHED Minister Loshii Dikho, Parliamentary Secretary, PWD, Awangbow Newmai, Parliamentary Secretary (Home), L Sushindro, Parliamentary Secretary (Planning) Khasim Vasum, Parliamentary Secretary (PHE), K. Leishiyo.
After attending a lunch hosted by the State Government at Classic Grande, Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu left Imphal for Kohima.
