CHURACHANDPUR | May 21 : Information and publicity wing of the Joint Action Against Anti-Tribal Bills (JACAATB) announced the plan for burial of the “tribal martyrs” on May 24.
It was announced at a press conference today evening at SSPP Joint HQ Churachanpur office located at Hiangtam Lamka.
The leader of the wing Lalniloupuiah said that all the communities must come out in large numbers.
He earnestly sought cooperation from different sections of the society including media for the programme of burial of the tribal martyrs to be held on May 24.
All institutions and shops shall close on the particular day from 9 am to 5 pm with no plying of vehicles until the burial programme is finished, added Lalniloupuiah.
JACAATB has stated that the memorial park for the eight tribal martyrs are finalised at the unused helipad at Khup Dam areas and also requested all tribal communities to display their own traditional shawls on the day of burial.
Meanwhile, chief Convenor H Mangchinkhup and convenor secretary Paul Lalchhanhima of JACAATB said that the last rites of the tribal martyrs are to be done on May 24 in accordance with the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Manipur.
The JACAATB has requested for help from the side of all forms of media, as the event being one of the historic moments in tribal history.
