Ukhrul, May 17 : Tharadol Thongruang, Minister Counsellor (Commercial) Royal Thai Embassy, New Delhi has categorically stated that Ukhrul has immense potential to be developed as a beautiful tourism centre of Manipur.
The Thai Minister who is here to attend to Shirui Lily Festival while speaking at the one day Out Reach Programme on the theme “Global Projection of Ukhrul District as Tourism and Industry Destination” held at town hall, Phungreitang Ukhrul dwelt and explained on how Thailand is making headway in the tourism industry.
According to him, the moderate climatic condition of Ukhrul district and beautiful landscape is very similar to Bangkok and was visibly impressed with the hospitalilty extended by the people.
On the tourism prospect of Ukhurl, he said don’t worry too much on the lack of infrastructure and instead promote more homestay and less investment.
As a part of the programme a buyer seller meet was also held at the community cafe separately wherein he encouraged the people to rely more on horticulture obviously referring to the huge land mass available in the district.
Mentioning that fruits thrive well in high altitude, the Thai Minister said that Ukhrul can produce good quality fruits, which will be high on demand. The one day out reach programme was organized by Manipur Chamber of Conmerce and Industry (MCCI) in Association with Tangkhul Leihsak Long (TLL) and Autonomous District Council (ADC).
