IMPHAL, May 10 : The Ukhrul district SSA Primary Teachers Association has launched a cease work strike from today to protest the non-payment of eight months pending salaries since September 2016.
In a statement, Ukhrul district SSA Primary Teachers Association stated that the it is compelled to take up the agitation due to the failure to implement the assurance given by the Education Minister and the authority concerned to release the pending salaries.
A representation was submitted to the ZEO, Ukhrul yesterday intimating the launch of cease work strike and other forms of agitation.
It can be recalled that the association submitted a memorandum to the CM and a copy endorsed to the Education Minister on their maiden visit to Ukhrul district on April 10 urging the Government to release the eight months long pending salaries as well as to make necessary arrangements for regularisation of teachers’ monthly salary.
Initially, the association received a positive response however, no positive action has been taken till date.
Following the State Government’s failure to meet the demand of the association by May 10, the association has taken up such an agitation, it added.
