IMPHAL, Jun 6: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that the BJP led coalition Government has been possible only due to the selfless sacrifice made by some Congress MLAs who defected to BJP.
He made the statement at the ‘Sabka Saath, SabkaVikas : Collective Efforts Inclusive Growth’ celebration organised at BJP State Unit office at Nityaipat Chuthek in connection with the completion of three years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Central Government.
Speaking at the event, Biren said that a strong Government results in efficient administration of a State or country and vice versa.
Conveying that building a strong Government needs perseverance and efforts, he praised the Congress MLAs who joined BJP despite imminent risk of disqualification and backlash.
Biren said that the BJP party would contest the coming Panchayat and Lok Sabha elections with heightened zeal and stated that the party would work tirelessly for the State and its people to win the elections.
He assured that the new State Government would try its best to make good on the promise made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the people of Manipur that BJP would do in 15 months what the Congress party was not able to do in 15 years.
Biren stated that the Government needs to increase its works speed even further to bring development to the State.
A DPR requesting Rs 500 crore for the development of the deplorable road conditions of the State has been sent to the PMO, he said and added that the condition of Imphal-Jiri road has been improved due to the Rs 2,200 crore sanctioned by the Central Government for developing the National Highways and the State Highways.
He also pointed out that a DPR of Rs 2,300 crore has been sent to the PMO for the sole purpose of proving safe drinking water facilities to the people f the State in accordance with Narendra Modi’s vision of providing safe drinking water to every household in the country by the year 2022.
N Biren claimed that the new State Government has brought vim and energy to various Departments of the Government within two and a half months of holding office.
“The people will be able to get free treatments from July 1, medicines will be provide at cheap prices and as a respect to women, providing free LPG connections to BPL womenfolk have begun from yesterday”, he added.
“Free LPG connections would be given to 2.43 lakh beneficiaries within three years, for which forms would be distributed through the local MLAs and the respective DCs”, he said and assured that the State Government is trying its best to keep its promises regarding the tasks to be completed within the first 100 days in office.
Speaking at the event, DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra said that the Central Government is taking up many initiatives and projects to bring development to the North East region.
“Under the Prime Minister’s supervision, steps have been taken up to bring development to the hills, free LPG connections have been provided to women and necessary actions would be taken at the earliest to construct the Sports University”, he added.
