IMPHAL, Jun 8 : Imphal West district police busted a country made gun manufacturing unit at Langol Games Village under Lamphel police station today at around 3.10 pm.
Briefing media persons, Additional SP (Operation) Imphal West, S Ibomcha said that acting on inputs from different sources about the firing of a few rounds of bullets at Langol Game Village area, the district police were maintaining a tight vigil.
He elaborated that based on the inputs, a team of comprising of Deputy SP Rojit Irom, OC Ranjit and OC Achouba Meitei under the supervision of SP Imphal West Themthing Ngashangva rushed to Langol Game Village Zone I and cordoned the area.
On searching a suspicious house, a person was found manufacturing a pistol. The person identified himself as Yangkhothang Haokip (28) s/o Lungkholal Haokip of Bongbal Khullen, Kangpokpi district presently staying at Langol Game Village Zone I.
The police team recovered two country made pistols, equipment and tools used in making country made pistols, 97 demand letters of “Terrorist Revolutionary Army”, a receipt book containing 100 leaflets and four empty cases.
Lungkholal Haokip revealed that he had fired some rounds from a country made pistol which he manufactured.
He also revealed that live rounds of bullets were brought from a underground cadre from Bongbal Khullen.
Lungkholal also disclosed that the demand letters were printed at Ridg Offset located at New Checkon Bazar, whose owner is identified as Khunjamayum Dayananda (41) s/o Ibochou of Thoubal Haokha Mamang Leikai.
Lungkholal Haokip further confessed that a round seal and two line seals of “Terrorist Revolutionary Army” were made at Desk Design located at New Checkon Bazar, which is run by Kshetrimayum Sushil (38) s/o Mani of Khurai Chaithabi Leirak. Police later pulled up the owners of the shops for questioning. The Additional SP said that police are investigating to ascertain whether the group called “Terrorist Revolutionary Army” exists or not.
The arrested persons along with the seized items will be handed over to the police concerned, he added.
