IMPHAL, Jun 19: Services of Manipur State Road Transportation Corporation Service (MSRTC) buses will be restored in Pherzawl district after a hiatus of over 20 years.
Pherzawl district Deputy Commissioner A Tombikanta has informed the Pherzawl District Development Committee (PDDC) that “the relentless efforts to restore the MSRTC bus service to Pherzawl has been accepted by Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s Government.”
“An order to this effect has been issued by the government,” Tombikanta said. Preparations are on for the Chief Minister to flag off the MSRTC bus service on June 25, 2017 from the State capital, Imphal. The MSRTC buses will also ply from Imphal to Churachandpur, according to a statement issued by Timothy Z Zote, PR, Pherzawl District Development Committee.
The fare for Imphal – CCpur will be Rs 1/km and from Churachandpur to Pherzawl, the fare will be Rs 1.20p/km.
“The MSRTC service to Pherzawl is expected to start from June 26, 2017 and the first passengers will have the benefit of travelling at a discount rate below the normal price,” Tombikanta told PDDC officials.
The main station for MSRTC Pherzawl will be at Rengkai and those wishing to travel to Pherzawl can contact Lalramsang of Rengkai and members of PDDC, it said.
Meanwhile, PDDC has expressed gratitude to Manipur Govt led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh for understanding and responding positively to meet the needs of the people. The PDDC also appreciated the relentless efforts of the district’s administrator A Tombikanta for doing his best in trying to bring development in to the remote corner of Manipur.
PDDC also acknowledged the efforts of the concerned MLAs of Pherzawl district — Dr Chaltonlien Amo (Tipaimukh AC) and Vungzagin Valte (Thanlon AC) – for taking up developmental issues pro-actively.
