IMPHAL | Dec 29 : Chitra Khwairakpam and Takhallemabam Chosini Devi have won the best singer and best lyricist awards in the 14th Best of Apunba Manipur Matam Isei Kanglup (AMMIK) 2017 mega final held today at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound.
Sanasam Rani Devi and Ksh. Devendra Singh got the second and third best prizes singers. Labango Ningthoujam and Rani Ningombam were honoured as the second and third best lyricists.
Twelve singers participated in the event from four district of the state. Jiten Khaidem, B. Bokulchandra Sharma, K. Shanta, Kh Rajeshwori and Jawaharlal were the jury members.
Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, Art and Culture minister, L. Jayantakumar Singh asserted that singing a song is not an easy task. A song can express a lot of things and music cannot be taken lightly, he added.
Mentioning about the Government Music College of the state, minister suggested that people of the state should take the benefit from the institutions by imparting professional courses. Appreciating the efforts of Apunba Manipur Matam Esei Kanglup (AMMIK), the minister also stated that AMMIK will produce many more talented singers in future.
Attending the function as president, S. Tijendra Singh, who is the president, AMMIK said that the programme is organised in order to hunt the young singing talents of the state and also to ignite the sense of patriotism to the young generation. He also sought the cooperation from the public and appealed to encourage the artists of the state.
Secretary of Manipur State Film Development Society, Hamom Naba Singh said in the past there were songs and lyrics which have been imitated from other languages. But with the coming of new lyricist and many talented music composers the style of music has changed. The lyricist and the music composers of the state should concentrate on their path and the music of the state will automatically bring fame, he appealed.
