IMPHAL, Jun 4: Admitting that the people are not satisfied with the sluggish pace of trial of cases of crimes against women and children witnessed in the State, Chief Minister N Biren declared that the State Government is planning to set up a fast track Court to ensure speedy justice in cases of crime.

He was addressing a reception function held in honour of the newly elected Rajya Sabha MP K Bhabananda at Keishampat Thokchom Leikai, Imphal West today.
The function was organised by Manipur People’s Club.

peaking as chief guest, CM Biren said that the fast track Court is to be set up after getting permission from the High Court.

He said that the Government is taking strong exception to the alarming rate of crime against women and children in different parts of the State.
He opined that the fast track Court will ensure speedy deliverance of justice and pronouncement of punishment against those who commit such crimes.

Maintaining that the BJP-led coalition Government is firmly committed to serving the people, the CM said that the Government is keeping priority on the Anti-Corruption Cell and cleanliness of Imphal city.

He noted that support of people irrespective of caste and religion is much required to bring all round development both in the hills and valley.

Unlike the previous Government, the present Government will not indulge in corruption when it comes to recruitment of Government employees. A plan has been formulated to declare recruitment results of Government employees within a week, he said.

He announced that people will soon get free medicines and medical tests in Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres and District Hospitals numbering around 200.

He went on to inform that after three months, the Government would sign a memorandum of understanding with a private company to provide free Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test to the people.

CM Biren termed K Bhabananda as a competant representative who can highlight core issues pertaining to the State in the Rajya Sabha. Bhabananda assured that he would render service as a responsible MP representing the State in the Upper House.

Today’s reception function was also attended by former president of BJP Manipur Pradesh, Sh Shantikumar Sharma as president; Works Minister Th Biswajit; Education Minister Th Radheshyam; Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar; Parliamentary Secretary (RD & PR) H Dingo Singh and ex-MLA of Sagolband AC Dr Kh Loken as guests of honour.
