The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East directed the director general of police L. M. Khaute to arrest Arif Khan (22) and his father Md. Azad Khan of Kwakta Khuman Maronglou, at present Mantripukhri for alletgedly gang-raping an abducted girl.

The prosecution case is that On April 29 the girl’s father lodged a complaint with the Imphal police station stating that her daughter was forcibly kidnapped by Arif Khan on April 23 to be his wife without her daughter’s consent and kept concealed at an unknown location with the help of the guardian of Arif.

The complaint was lodged just one day after the girl escaped from the custody of Arif taking advantage of the absence of Arif and his family members.

The victim’s counsel said before the court that the case is heinous crime against woman and is not only a question of rape committed by the accused but also by the father.

And allowing the accused to be in the society free is not good in the criminal investigation procedure as well as in the society, added the victim’s counsel.

The victim’s counsel also submitted to the court that the IO of the case as well as the superior officers were not taking keen interest as the victim’s family belongs to below poverty line.

The victim’s counsel further prayed to the court to direct the DGP to cause arrest of Md Ajad Khan and his son as the nature of the offence is gang-rape committed both by the son and the father.

Even though the victim’s side frequently approached the IO of the case and the superior officers to take legal action against Md Ajad but till today no arrest is made, said the victim’s counsel.
