A young talented lad, Ningthoujam Rapsan, cracked the prestigious IIT entrance exam(JEE Advance) 2017 in his first attempt with an impressive rank, but his family’s financial crunch could cripple his dreams of studying in IIT.
Ninghtoujam Rapsan cleared the tough IIT JEE exam in his first attempt without getting any coaching classes, he secured 1193 (OBC) rank and 7086(Common Rank List) out of 50,000 students selected for IIT from among 200,000 students qualified for JEE (Advance). Earlier he cleared the JEE (Main) with a rank of 1426 (OBC) and 7872 (Common Rank List) among 17 Lakhs students appreared from all over India.
Being born to a poor family, Rapsan expressed apprehension that his dream of studying at IIT Kharagpur may be dashed as his family is reeling under immense financial crunch.
He said that total fees for studying at the reputed institute is around Rs 4 lakh including admission fee of Rs 80,000.
Rapsan’s mother Purnimashi is a street vendor at Khwairamband market and his father Manaoyaima could no longer work due to an illness.
His mother expressed regret over their family’s financial condition, saying her hard work is proving not enough to fulfil her son’s dream and appealed for financial assistance.
