IMPHAL, Feb 6: An association of power consumers of the state will soon be constituted under the banner “All Manipur Power Consumers’ Association†for redressal of grievances faced by the power consumers with regard to the ongoing power drive of the electricity department.
An ad hoc committee of the association was formed today in a meeting held at Lizard Library Hall, Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak, Imphal-East.
The convenors of the ad hoc committee are MC Somorendro and Konthoujam Sanatomba.
Speaking to media-persons, the co-convenor Konthoujam Sanatomba stated that the erratic power supply in the state has seriously affected the people in several ways and the present power drive of the electricity department has only added more inconveniences to the people.
The association will be constituted mainly to urge the concerned authority to give regular power supply to the consumers as against the mass power disconnection drive taken up by the electricity department.
The committee will further organize public meeting on February 13 at Lizard Library Hall on the present power condition and thereof adopt certain resolutions to redress the grievances of the power consumers of the state, he noted.
Sanatomba also appealed to all power consumers to attend the said meeting positively at 11:30 am to express their views, comments and grievances to the committee.
