IMPHAL, Feb 14: The Governor of Manipur Gurbachan Jagat has extended his heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur, especially to the Naga brethren, on the auspicious occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni.
In his message the Governor pointed out that Lui-Ngai-Ni, seed sowing festival of the Naga tribes is their collective and biggest festival. Since it is a Tourist festival it occupies a unique position not only among the Nagas but also among other communities of the North East and the Country.
The festival calls for peace and harmony, besides spreading the message of `live and let live”, cutting across the barriers of caste, creed and religion and also for setting aside the differences amongst different communities, said the Governor.
In celebrating a festival like Lui-Ngai-Ni, the edifice of oneness and the bonds of brotherhood and friendship get strengthened. `I am sure the festival will be celebrated in its true spirit and it will bring the people belonging to various groups and communities together, thereby strengthening the very fabric that binds the nation together`, he said.
