IMPHAL, Feb 17: At least two militant cadres have been arrested by Assam Rifles troops in separate counter insurgency operation.
A statement issued by the PRO IGAR (S), said that discovering the movement of UG cadres in general area Soibam Leikai, troops of 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation in the area and apprehended one UNLF cadre at around 6.55 pm on February, 16. The apprehendee was identified as Keithelakpam Dhanabir, 38 yrs, s/o K Mohari of Khurai Soibam Leikai and was handed over to Porompat Police station.
In yet another incident, troops of 23 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) launched operation in general area of YKPI market and apprehended one KCP(MTF) cadre at around 7 pm on February, 16. The apprehendee was identified as Y Tomcha Singh, 30 years, s/o Birchandra of Thamnapokpi and was handed over to Lamlai Police station, added the release.
