Manipur Legislative Assembly session to start from March 8

IMPHAL, Feb 21: Complying with the recent state cabinet decision taken in the cabinet meeting of February 14 under the chairmanship of the state Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh at his official Banglow, the Governor of Manipur Gurbachand Jagat in exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (1) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India, has summoned the 10th Session of the Ninth Manipur Legislative Assembly to meet at 11 am of March 8 next month.
In this regard, the secretary Manipur Legislative Assembly Y Indira Devi issued an official order intimating of the same today.
According to an official source, the state cabinet in its meeting held during the first week of this month had already decided to call the state assembly session on March 2 next month, but rescheduled it in another cabinet meeting held on February 14 as the existing SPF government is going to observed its 9th Anniversary on March 2 next month.
The official source further mentioned that, with the official summoning of the 10th Session of the Ninth Manipur Legislative Assembly by the Governor, the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the Manipur Legislative has been called at 2 pm of February 25 at Committee room of the Assembly Secretariat to finalize the numbers of sittings and businesses to be discussed during the ensuing state assembly session.
Another highly placed official source further added that the ensuing 10th Session of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly which will be commenced from March 8 next month is likely to have 14 days of sitting, and since the ensuing session being the first sitting of the year the Governor`™s Speech, passing of Supplementary Budget for the current financial year 2010-11, passing of Vote on Accounts for four months for the next financial year and introductions of some of the government bills will be the main business of the session, the source added.
The official source further mentioned that, in view of the Governor`™s address to be placed before the ensuing session, state government had instructed all departments to submit their departmental reports to the concern cabinet ministers and confidential department of the state on or before February 10 last.
