IMPHAL, Feb 22: At least four cadres belonging to three separate underground outfits have been arrested by security forces during counter insurgency operations conducted in different parts under Imphal East district for the last three days.
According an official statement issued by the SP Imphal East, a team of Imphal East District Police Commandos apprehended one cadre of under ground PULF, identified as Md Wazimuddin alias Ithem alias Izim, 32, son of late Md Sulei of Keirao Mayai Leikai from Keiro Mayai Laikai on February 20 morning during the specific operation.
The statement further said that, the police during their spot verification, the arrested person has revealed to the police that, he joined the PULF organization in the month of January last year through one Md Shikandar of the outfit and he was involved in extortion of money from general public, Government officials, businessmen etc. and transportation of arms and ammunitions from one place to another for the said outfit.
In the meantime, the statement further mentioned that, the combined team of Imphal East District police Commandos and personnel of 23 and 28 AR during specific operations conducted yesterday morning around 9.30 am at Keishamthong Ahanthem Leikai able to arrested two cadres of proscribed UNLF.
The arrested UNLF cadres were identified as, Khomdram Sushil alias Tamnganba Meetei, 28, son of Kh. Itomcha Meetei of Bheigapati Leikai Tensubam Leirak and Phanjoubam Winnerjit Singh, 20, son of Ph Shyam Singh of Tensubam Leirak Bheigapati Leikai.
The statement further mentioned that, one .32 pistol marked as Petro & Brata Auto Pistol loaded with two live rounds in magazine was recovered from the possession of Khomdram Shusil. Besides the police on spot verification, Khomdram Shusil disclosed to the police that, he joined the outfit in the year 2006 through one Thaja of Yairipok side and trained at Myanmar, Layang village and his Army No is 2088 of 32nd Batch of the UNLF organization and he is now working under the command of one Ningombam Sunder Singh, 25, son of N Kunjo Singh of Sawombung and Phanjoubam Winnerjit Singh disclosed the police that he joined the very outfit in the month of February this year through one Sushil alias Tabanganba of the UNLF and he was working under his command, the statement added.
In yet another incident, the combined team of Lamlai police and personnel of 23 Assam Rifles arrested one cadres of KCP (MC) cadre identified as, Ningthoukhongjam James Meetei, 27, son N Ibopishak Meetei of Yuman Patlou Mayai Leikai from Yumnam Patlou yesterday afternoon during specific operation.
The official statement said, the police during the spot verification, it has been revealed that, the arrested person had joined the outfit last year and he was now working under the command of Sairem Saxena alias Naoba son of Arunkumar of Khurai Puthiba Leikai and Lanchenba Mangal of KCP (MC) and he was reportedly involved in extortion of money from general public and serving demand letters at Khonghampat stine cruser to raise for their party funds, the statement added.
In Yet another incident, a team of Thoubal District Police Commandos have arrested two cadres of the UPRF while conducting a search operation yesterday in and around Lilong Yangbi Leikai at about 2:45 pm, said a press statement of the SSP Thoubal District, Clay Khongsai.
The individuals have been identified as one Md. Itab alias Altab, 28, s/o (L) Md. Nijamudding of Lilong Turel Ahanbi and Md. Habibur Rahaman, 53, s/o (L) Md. Rahaman of Lilong Yangbi Leikai.
One 9 mm pistol with one magazine along with two live rounds was recovered from the possession of the individual, it said.
