Myanmarese man, 8 UGs nabbed

IMPHAL, Aug 24: Subsequent to detecting the movement of foreigners moving from Imphal to Moreh via NH-39, troops of  29 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) at around 7am on August 26 detained a Myanmarese national while carrying out checking of vehicles at Tengnoupal.

The person revealed that two months back he traveled from Moreh to Imphal through NH-39. He worked in Mantripukhri as a jeweler.

The individual was moving to Moreh and further to Myanmar. He was identified as Sa Maw, 29 years, son of U Ten Thow, a resident of Tamu, Myanmar. One Pocket diary, one Mobile handset (NOKIA 1209), one BSNL SIM, one Money Bag, 65 Gem stones, Rs. 1906 and some papers in Burmese were recovered from the foreign national who along with the recovered items was handed over to the Immigration Office at Moreh.
In yet another incident, troops of 15 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation in general area Khongkom Bazar and apprehended three KYKL OGWs terrorists at around 9:15 am on 25 August.

The arrested activists were identified as Bobi alias Safiqur Rehman, 21 years, son of Azizur Rehman, a resident of Sora Village, Nanao alias Ratan, 23 years, son of Sajao, resident of Langthel and H Romen Singh, 23 years, son of L H Ranjan Singh, resident of Games Village. They were handed over to the Thoubal police station.

In the meantime, the Thoubal district police commandos arrested two cadres of the proscribed PLA/RPF, informed a statement issued by the SSP Thoubal district police.
The statement said that individuals were arrested while conducting counter insurgency operation in and around Wabgai Lamkhai bazsr area following reliable information regarding presence of suspected valley based UG.s.

Those arrested have been identified as one Nongthonbam Sanjit alias Abung alias Kwaklei Singh, 33, son of N. Juge and Nongthonbam Nanao Singh, 23, son of N. Mahajon Sing both resident of Sekmaijin Thongam Awang Leikai.

The Imphal East district police commandos apprehended two more cadres belonging to different UG groups of KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) and PREPAK yesterday from two separate places of the district.

A release of SP Imphal East said that the arrested cadre of KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) had been identified as one Lousigam Joykumar, aged 49 years, son of L. Mangichand of Luwangsangbam. He was arrested from his residence yesterday at around 9:15 am.
On the other hand, the cadre of PREPAK who was arrested from Lamlong Bazar yesterday at around 3:30 pm has been identified as one Ningthoujam Anand alias Imo Singh, 30 years, son of N.Gyanendro of Thangmeiband Lairenhanjabam Leikai.

Further, yesterday at around 12.15 pm, the Imphal West police commandos under the supervision of Dy. SP (CDO) arrested one NSCN(K) activist from the Electricity power house at Keisampat. The arrested person was identified as Md.Jamaruddin, 57, son of Md.Hatim Ali of Yairipok Tulihal.

A sum of Rs. 4,99,000 and three demand letters were seized from his possession. Further, he disclosed that the seized amount had been collected from the Chandel division electricity department at Keisampat.
