IMPHAL, Feb 27: Seven persons including two traffic personnel, two non locals and a shop owner were injured today in a bomb blast in front of a hardware shop at Hatta under Porompat police station.
The incident happened this afternoon at around 12:50 pm when unidentified miscreants lobbed a bomb from a moving car towards the shop whose owner has been identified as one Olli Ali 50 s/o late Yakub Ali of Bihar presently staying at Thangal bazaar.
The injured sub inspector has been identified as one Ningombam Angouton 55 yrs s/o late Khula of Nambol phoijing chingmang. The other injured persons are identified as Olli Ali, the owner of the shop, Leihaothabam Iboyaima Singh 48 s/o Jiban of Khurai Chingnambam leikai who is presently working as a personnel Imphal east traffic, Md, Astaf Ali 28 s/o Abdul Ajis a non local from UP at present staying at Imphal Md Khamba 32 yrs s/o Unab Ali of Hatta, Md. Thoiba 35 yrs s/o Babu of hatta and Md Samsir 45 s/o Aniruddin of Koutrouk.
Reports further stated that the public of the area rushed the injured persons to the Public hospital located nearby the incident spot, however the hospital after applying first aid to the victims referred them to JNIMS.
Further two of the victims Olli Ali and Md Samsir were referred to RIMS and one identified as Md Khamba 32 yrs s/o Unab Ali is under treatment at JNIMS.
According to Md Astaf Ali he was passing his time playing cards with friends outside the shop, when a stone like object came flying towards them. It turned out to be a bomb and blasted suddenly after which he felt unconscious.
Sub Inspector Ningombam Angouton disclosed that he and his traffic police team were on duty around the spot when they heard a loud explosion. Two of the traffic personnel team were injured in the blast.
In the meantime the Imphal East Police SP Th Radheshyam inspected the bomb blast spot and further the porompat police has registered an FIR about the incident.
