Seminar on composite history concludes

    Imphal, April 2(NNN): The two-day seminar on Haipou Jadonang, Rani Gaidinlui and Kuki Rebellion in the Composite History of Manipur, organized by National Research Centre (NRC), Manipur, concluded today at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) Hall here in Imphal.

    Half a dozen intellectuals who are the authority in their field of interest spoke on wide ranging issues under the broad theme of the seminar. Dr D Letkhojam Haokip, a lecturer in History from Don Bosco College Maram, spoke on the significance of Anglo-Kuki war 1917-1919.

    Dr Priyadarshani M Gangte, Lecturer Damdei Christian College, attempted at underscoring the underpinnings of the Kuki uprising in 1917-1919 within the composite history of Manipur, while Dr L Basanta Devi of Standard College and Sumitra Kamei separately attempted to trace the exploit of Rani Gaidinlui within the framework of the life and activities of women of the then composite Manipuri society.

    Dr Budha Kamei highlighted the concept of God in the traditional sense as well as with the advent of Christianity in Zeliangrong society that has impinged on the composite culture and history of Manipur.
