IMPHAL, April 18: The Zeliangrong Union Tamenglong Zone, Zeliangrong Women Union, Zeliarong Youth Front, Tamenglong Zone states that they have no knowledge regarding the imposition of 48 hours bandh which was publiched in some local dailies on April 9 under the Headline AZSU calls bandh from April, 17 to 19, against high handed AR.
According to a release when bandh are called its negative aspects outweigh the positive especially in Manipur where it has become a culture and priority must be given to the economy. There are many families striving hard for the survival living in a hand to mouth conditions and disrupting their daily wages activities means so much to them. Any political decision of a society ought not to be taken by the student body but rather left it to the apex organization. Any organization should know its orientation and by passing and intruding is not high esteemed of the rational society.
It further states that various Zeliangrong Organizations like, ZU, ZSUM, ZWU, ZYF, ZSUTD, TAT and Truck Owners Assn, Social Leaders etc, held meeting on April 9 and 12 recently and had decided to call off the bandh called on 17 to 19 April, later.
The general public should be aware of the development process being hindered from the various non-civilian organizations because in a civilized world civil society is an appropriate body and no military organizations should stand in the way Might is right which is the characteristic of the barbarous society is no longer prevailed. Besides, befitting punitive action against the CAolonel Chhonkar of 11th AR mentioned in the charter of demands is not pertinent in the decision taken by the various Zeliangrong Organizations the release added.
On the other hand prior to the announcement of 48 hours bandh by the ZSU since lat mid-night in the Zeliangrong inhabited areas of the state, the normal passenger services along the National High way No-53 has been suspended from this early morning and there is no report of activating transportation services from Jirbam to Imphal today due to the imposed bandh the source added.
