IMPHAL, November 19: Concerned with the controversial “Supra State Body” which is likely to be granted to NSCN-IM by the centre as the ultimate outcome of the decade-long peace talks, the UPA constituent party Trinamool Congress will take the issue in the coming winter session of the Parliament.
This was stated by Union minister of state for shipping and general secretary of All India Trinamool Congress, Mukul Roy during a one-day political convention held under the theme “Towards a Resurgent Manipur” today at Singjamei Yumnam Leikai public ground, Imphal.
He further stated that Trinamool Congress will not form pre-poll alliance with any political party in the coming 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly election. It will fight the election single-handedly.
The Congress-led SPF government fails to deliver good governance to the people of the state. The suffering of the people knows no bound in the aftermath of economic blockade imposed on the national highways. But still the state government fails to redress the suffering of the people, he asserted.
The 111-day-old economic blockade in the state is a strange thing not happening in any other part of the world. Trinamool Congress is against price rise of petroleum products in the country even though it is a constituent party of UPA government, Mukul stated.
The Trinamool leader further commended the mandate of the public in the bye-election of Konthoujam assembly constituency. The party is committed to bring a change in the state right from the grassroot level.
Rajya Sabha MP and in-charge of AITC Northeast, KD Singh maintained that the Congress government in the state cannot bring any substantial development to the state rather than aggravating various issues and problems.
Trinamool Congress is for the people and of the people. The party will bring a real change in the state, he noted.
Konthoujam MLA K Sarat stated that the national leaders of Trinamool Congress are kind and simple-hearted people who think only for the welfare of the common people.
Meanwhile, Yaiskul Block Trinamool Congress Committee also submitted a memorandum to the visiting Trinamool leaders, namely Mukul Roy and KD Singh urging them to them to take up the core issues of the state pertaining to Supra State Body, economic blockade, power supply, shortage of essential commodities and AFSPA in the coming winter session of the Parliament.
