Ukhrul orphanage gets award

UKHRUL, December 16: Tucked away just six kilometers away from Ukhrul town headquarter is a “vulnerable-home-away-from- home” called Lanai (in local name) and better known as the Talui Junction, where more than 72 orphans dwell feeling at home at the Eden Resource Home under the warm care of their earthly father and mother Vs. Tanmila and RM Shanreingam.

The Eden Resource Home (ERH) observed the “National Award & thanks giving day” today at the institute home with a simple but impressive function with E.Luikham, ZEO UKhrul and H. Chiphang, Reserve Inspector to SP Ukhrul as guests of honour.

The ERH established in 1990 founded by VS.Nganingmi, a church worker has received a coveted Awards including the most distinguished Children Home award, the Manipur State Maharaja Nara Singh Award on April 11 2009 recommended by the Social Welfare department; Fit Institution Award entitled to ERH by the Governor of Manipur 2009 December and recently India Gold Star Award 2010 by the Intellectual People and Economic Growth Association along with the Award of Excellence for National Social Activity by the Global Achievers Foundation and most recently the ERH during a seminar at New Delhi on November 4 last was awarded with a Gold Medal with trophies and certificates.

Speaking on the occasion of “National Award & Thanksgiving Day”, the chief guest E. Luikham deeply encouraged the hard works and dedication extended by the ERH management of total charity in taking care of the orphans and asserted every possible help will be given to shape the children as the noble citizens of the Country.

He also assured to give free text-books and uniforms to students of ERH and seek any possible means to include the Mid-day meal distribution to the centre.

The guest of honour H.Chiphang expressed happiness over the observation of the day and further said that as the recipient of the two National Awards or the National Gold Medal Award is rare and praiseworthy in our society which is an honor to all. He further encouraged the ERH to keep it up and keep going forth and to reach international level. He also called-upon the people to join hands in lifting the children in the centre-stage to become a good citizen of the country.

In an exclusive chat with this Ukhrul correspondent after the function the ERH managing co-ordinator Tanmila expressed her greatest thanks to God for giving her family the privilege and success of her Charity Mission.
