CHURACHANDPUR, January 20: Highlighting the party’s commitment to peace, change and development, the All India Trinamool Congress candidate for Churachandpur assembly constituency, P Songlianlal organsied a one-day political campaign at Young Paite Association (YPA) Hall located at Hiangtam.
It was attended among others by AITC MP and renowned Britannia quiz master Dereck O ` Brian, Saurav Chakraborty, AITC youth leader, state party president, Kim Gangte, Konthoujam MLA, K Sarat, AITC candidate for Singngat, T Hangkhanpau and six other party candidates.
Dereck O`Brian, during his address to the large gathering, stated that some ten years back he had come to the state for a TV show. The road conditions was very bad at that time but now after a decade it has gone worst, interpreting a lack of development in the state.
Pointing out the close connections between Manipur and Bengal, he said that his great grandfather was buried in Manipur, the scripts of Manipur and Bengal are the same and the people should unite to form the next government under the leadership of Mamata Benarjee.
He said most politicians made promises which were never kept but Mamata Benarjee made her promise to bring peace in Darjeeling and kept her words, urging the voters to give a chance to the AITC.
Saurav Chakraborty said development is absent in all area of activities which have lead to frustration among the people. He mocked the SPF regime claiming that it cannot usher any development even if it rule for another 60 years.
