IMPHAL, Feb 9 : Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) and Narcotic Affairs Border Security (NABS) here today destroyed about 3193 kg of Ganja (cannabis) which iiss worth around Rs 100 crores in the international market.
However, the local value of the contraband item is much lower, says a source.
The 3193 kg of ganja, which was seized by NCB and NABS from various places of the State in the past one and half years, was reduced to ashes by set ting it on fire at a brick field in Koiregei of Imphal East district.
Zonal director of NCB, Subroto Biswas witnessed the bonfire.
The seized ganja was brought at Thokchom brick field and set aflame into the furnace, they said, adding that the destroyed ganja would worth about rupees 100 crores.
NCB and NABS have been working hard in their efforts to seize contraband ganja from smugglers in the State for the last one and half year and the seizure of large quantity of ganja during this period was successful due to the inputs provided to them from different sources, they added.
