IMPHAL, March 18: The All India Trinamool Congress, state chapter has selected its legislative leader today. Former MLA of Manipur Peoples Party from Oinam Assembly constituency and presently elected under the Trinamool Congress banner, I Ibohanbi has been unanimously elected as the representative leader of the Trinamool Congress state.
The deputy legislator leader has been awarded to Th Bishorjit of Thongju aseembly constituency and the chief whip of the political party has been accorded to Kh Joykishan of Thangemiband assembly constituency.
Both Th Bisorjit and Kh Joykishan contested in the recently conducted elections for the first time and defeated their rivals, namely Bijoy Koijam of the INC and Radhabinod Koijam of NCP.
The AITC after landing seven seats in the Manipur Legislative Assembly is also the single largest party elected after the Congress party and likely to be conferred the status of the leader of the opposition strength wise.
Informed sources from within the AITC also said that, after the scheduled 10th assembly sittings slated to begin Monday, post the assembly budget session, the state will be visited by four union ministers of the AITC.
The four union leaders will also take stock of the prevailing lapses in the health sector and address the current work progress of the Jiribam Tupul railhead.
Further, sources informed that I Ibohanbi will most likely be awarded due cognizance by the house as leader of the opposition in respect to the total elected strength of the AITC. It may be stated that aside from I Ibohanbi, both Th Bisorjit and Kh Joykishan are fresh elected candidate after contesting for the first time.
