NEW DELHI, Mar 18 (ANI): Congress party General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Sunday said he had no objection if Samajwadi Party joined the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

However, Singh said that final decision to rope in SP would be taken by the core committee headed by party chief Sonia Gandhi.

Addressing media persons, he said: “I have no problem, this is a clear fact that the central government during the regime of UPA-I and II got the support of Samajwadi party and we will ever be thankful to them. Their support on the passage of nuclear bill is appreciable and the core committee along with the coordination committee of UPA and Congress president will take the final decision after a detailed discussion with the Prime Minister,” said Singh.

Both Congress and Trinamool Congress (TMC) were at loggerheads after TMC leader and Union Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi announced hike in passenger fares in his ministry`s budget for 2012-13 on February 14.

Trivedi, who refused rollback the hike saying it was necessary in order to develop the railways, aggravated his party chief Mamata Banerjee, who asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to sack Trivedi, giving rise to speculations of instability in the UPA alliance.
