IMPHAL, April 9: The Kuki Students’ Organization (KSO) has on Tuesday raised concern over the traffic congestion in Moreh town and says random parking of vehicles along the National Highway-39 section of the town is posing a “grave threat” to the life of the public, particularly the students.

KSO, Moreh Block said in a press statement that traffic congestion has caused frequent accidents in Moreh town because of the absence of proper implementation of traffic control and parking rules.

It has further blamed the concerned authority for negligence in solving the traffic problem which may take more lives.

KSO further said the main concern of the student body is safety and welfare of the students against the prevailing scenario where Moreh-Imphal passenger service vehicles as well as other goods carrying vehicles parked in the vicinity of the National Highway are making students the most vulnerable.

It has further urged the additional Deputy Commissioner, Moreh to arrange a separate proper parking zone for heavy vehicles plying along the highway and ensure a “No Parking Zone on the highway section from gate no.1 to Forest gate.

The student body also warned of a possible enforcement of an indefinite bandh along the highway if the authority fails to give a positive response to the demand within April 15.
