FATYCM denounces kidnapping of 2 minor girls

IMPHAL, May 13: Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs, Manipur (FATYCM) has condemned the kidnapping of two minor girls from the village of Chadong in Ukhrul district by some unknown people who released the siblings after keeping them 16 hours of captivity.

Ngalaton Kasar, 14, and Sofia Kasar, 16, daughters of Job Kasar, residents of Chadong village were abducted by some unknown persons on May 8 last keeping them in their custody in a dense jungle for 16 hours without giving them food and water, FATYCM said in a statement on Sunday.

However, the girls were released by their captors only after the intervention of SDO Phungyar, SDPO Ukhrul and OC Litan, the federation added.

It also condemned the life attempt on Job Kasar, presently working as village authority of Chadong village by unidentified men around 6:30 pm of May 8. Kasar is now undertaking medical treatment after he received injuries in the attack, FATYCM said.

It also said the same assailants also damaged the house of James Kasar, headman of Chadong village and another house of one Wungnaoshang Kasar of the same village on the same day.

Appealing to all concerned not to repeat such incidents in future, FATYCM also urged the concerned authorities to book the kidnappers and attackers.

It may be mentioned that the impasse between two groups of Chadong village under Litan PS of Ukhrul had turned ugly yesterday after the two groups turned to fist-fights at the Manipur Press Club.

Some 30 Chadong villagers had also reportedly fled from the village fearing another bout of fighting between the two warring groups inside the village.
