IMPHAL, May 14: Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) has greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of its 10th anniversary on Monday, seeking support of the people in strengthening unity to make a healthy society.

Recounting various historical events of Manipur when the former kingdom suffered socially, politically and religiously in the hands of aggressors, HERICOUN said in its message to the people that now all the scholars in the state should come forward to guide the people, while admitting that it is not possible to bring a sturdy society sans academicians.

Stating that there are around 60 nations in the world recognized by the UN which are smaller than Manipur, HERICOUN asked why the indigenous people in Manipur are now on the verge of dying out while a country like Israel which is smaller than the state can survive with pride and power.

It also appealed to all the ethnic communities in the state to refrain from building up their mindsets on ethnic lines, saying all are sons and daughters of the same parents.
