PDS will be streamlined from June: M Okendro

IMPHAL, May 25: CAF and PD minister, M Okendro in a meet with IFP reporter stated that stringent action will be initiated against the involved persons in the petrol adulteration scam. “Befitting punishment will be given according to the law, kerosene is meant for the public and not to be used by some scrupulous individuals”, he said.

The minister further mentioned that the Public Distribution System will be streamlined to reach the deserving public throughout the state. From the first week of June, extension points will be kept in all districts for the first time in the state. The public will be notified via the media on the allocation of each constituency so that the quota cannot be pilfered. Okendro mentioned that the rate to be made available to every nook and corner of the state will be less than 25 Rs per litre.

In the regard a high level meeting chaired by the minister was held at his office at Babupara today. The implementation was discussed with the principal secretary (CAF & PD) and all deputy commissioners of the state.

It may be mentioned that according to the state population of 27,21,756, the requirement of kerosene is 2198.51 KL per month and the received amount is 2112 KL, having a shortfall of 86.51 KL. Each family is entitled to 4 litres per month.

The minister also mentioned that the centre will be urged to provide the requisite amount of the state.
