JIRIBAM, May 27: Reacting sharply against yesterday’s bomb attack and firing at the residence of one Chanabam Mineshwor at Bidyanagar, Jiribam, several women’s body staged a sit in protest in front of the Oinam Jiribam Congress Office today.
It may be mentioned that unidentified armed miscreants suspected to be militants lobbed a hand grenade and fired a one round at the residence of BDO Mineshwor.
The sit in protest started from around 10am and continued till 4pm today.
Speaking to media persons one of the woman protestors said, ‘yesterday’s attack is the first of its kind in Jiribam, and as such all should together against such threat’.
She further appealed to all concerned not to repeat such attacks in the future and at the same time demanded a clarification from the assailants.
Meanwhile Maneshor informed media persons that he had received a demand of Rs 5 lakh through an SMS from the KCP (MC) some four five months ago.
He further continued that some individuals identifying themselves as members of the KCP (MC) Noyon group had made monetary demands through the mobile phone after the first SMS demand.
