IMPHAL, June 1: The villagers of Ijeirong and Oktan in Tamenglong district have returned to their respective villages Friday as they encountered difficulties in taking refuge at the neighbouring village of Haochong.
Residents of the two villages had fled to the nearby village on May 30 following a heavy gun-fight between the NSCN (IM) and the ZUF leaving two ZUF cadres dead and one NSCN (IM) injured.
The villagers are not now freed from fear of another fresh clash between the two rival groups that could take place any time in the area. However, they had to return home as they faced difficulties while taking shelters at Haochong for days as well as they had to take care of large number of domestic animals back home, according to a source.
