IMPHAL, June 2: Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) has urged upon the state government to provide BPL cards to all the rickshaw pullers in the state, saying they are facing problems to support their families.
The rickshaw pullers are really poor people so their number can be easily counted because they are working after taking licenses from Municipality or Nagar Panchayat, INTUC said in statement.
It said BPL cards should be issued to all the Meitei, Pangal and tribal rickshaw pullers and steps be taken up to provide them benefits under Rashtriya Swartha Bhima Yojna (RSBY) at the same time.
