IMPHAL, June 9: The Pangal (Manipuri Muslim) Political Forum, Manipur has urged the state government to convert all the Manipuri Muslims to Most Backward Community (MBC) to solve the problem of education and economy of the minority community.
In a statement, Pangal (Manipuri Muslim) Political Forum said it is the need of the hour to initiate the policy of free education for Muslim students up to standard twelve as announced recently by UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Like in Tamil Nadu, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh where all the Muslims have been officially announced as MBC, the state government should take up the same policy for the state Muslims, the statement said.
It also urged the government to pass an ordinance to facilitate the conversion of the minority group to MBC
