IMPHAL, June 19: A man has today alleged that after the Imphal Hospital had conducted an appendix removal surgery on his mother on May 29, her appendix was found intact according to an ultrasound result taken at the JNIMS on June 15 where she was admitted after she complained of severe stomach ache.
The allegations were made today at the Manipur Press Club by the son identified as Tingkee.
He alleged that his mother Maibam Memma, 43 of Langol Type II had two check-ups at RIMS OPD about a month ago after she started complaining of severe stomach ache.
The last check up at the RIMS OPD was done on May 23 when she was asked to undergo an ultrasound and X-ray check-ups.
They were asked to bring the report on May 29, however due to her deteriorating condition, the family took her to Imphal hospital on May 28, he alleged.
He further alleged that at the Imphal Hospital, a doctor identified as S Rajendro had advised that she had to be immediately operated upon as she had a severe case of appendix.
However, due to financial problems, the family admitted her for the operation the next day on May 29, he said.
The operation was conducted on the evening of May 29, he further said.
After the operation, the doctor told the family that the patient is also suffering from Tuberclosis and need further treatment.
The doctor had also claimed that a small part of her appendix has been removed during the operation.
She was however discharge from the hospital on June 3.
When her tests were sent to diagnosis centres in the state, the results for TB were found to be negative, he further claimed.
On June 14, she further complained of pain in her stomach at which the family took her at the residence of Dr Lokeshwor of JNIMS.
He advised further diagnosis after admission at JNIMS.
Several test confirmed that her appendix is intact and the doctors have advised another operation at JNIMS, he said.
He has urged the concerned authorities to look into the carelessness of the doctors at Imphal Hospital.
